Burlcore Mining Co.
Corporate Social Responsibility

The philanthropic and ESG arm of Burlcore Mining.

Burlcore Foundation channels mining value into lasting community benefit across Busia District, Uganda.

SEC.01 / Our relationship

Mining creates value. The Foundation turns it into community impact.

Burlcore Mining Company Limited is a licensed, medium-scale gold operator in the Lake Victoria Green Belt of Busia, Uganda. Alongside extraction, the company recognises that its licence to operate depends on the trust and wellbeing of the district it calls home.

The Burlcore Foundation is the philanthropic and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) arm of Burlcore Mining. It exists to design, fund and deliver community programmes that outlast any single mining cycle and leave Busia District stronger than we found it.

All programmes are developed with local leadership, district authorities and frontline service providers. The Foundation does not impose projects from outside; it responds to priorities identified by the communities it serves, then stays accountable for delivery and maintenance.

SEC.02 / Programme pillars

Four pillars of community investment.

Every project the Foundation supports fits within one of these practical, measurable commitments.

Clean Water

Protected boreholes, elevated storage tanks and household distribution points bring safe drinking water to villages that previously walked long distances for every litre.

Health

Clinic supplies, maternal bedsheets, mosquito nets and outreach support strengthen primary care for the communities surrounding our concession.

Education

Learning materials, classroom upgrades and early-years support help keep children in school and give teachers the resources they need.

Livelihoods

Micro-enterprise support, vocational training and local procurement open income pathways for artisans, farmers and small businesses across Busia District.

SEC.03 / Governance

Accountable, local, and transparent.

The Foundation does not operate in isolation. It works within the governance framework of Burlcore Mining and reports alongside the company’s broader ESG commitments. Programme selection, procurement and monitoring are carried out by Burlcore staff and local partners on the ground in Busia.

Funding is directed to durable infrastructure rather than one-off events. A water point is only counted as delivered when it has been tested, handed over and supported with a maintenance plan. Health supplies are tracked through the clinics that receive them. Education support is measured by attendance and classroom outcomes, not by inputs alone.

This is responsible mining in practice: a licensed operator reinvesting in the district that hosts it, with clear lines of accountability and a long-term view of what success looks like.
