Burlcore Mining champions environmental stewardship in the Lake Victoria Green Belt.
Burlcore Mining Company Limited has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to environmental stewardship across its licensed gold concession in Busia, situated within the Lake Victoria Green Belt, one of East Africa's most important geological and ecological regions.
The Lake Victoria Green Belt extends across Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania, and underpins both the region's natural ecosystem and the livelihoods of millions of people who depend on its waterways. Operating responsibly within this landscape demands a level of discipline that Burlcore has built into the foundations of its operation from day one.
Burlcore's environmental approach starts with full regulatory compliance under Uganda's DGSM framework and extends into routine monitoring, structured site management, and continuous investment in water and drainage infrastructure across the wider community. Recent civil works delivered by the company in the neighbouring Mawero community have improved flood resilience and helped protect local households from the disruption of heavy seasonal rainfall.
By embedding environmental thinking into every stage of the mining cycle, the company aims to show that medium-scale gold production and long-term ecological responsibility can move forward together.
