Burlcore Mining backs girls' football teams in Busia.
Burlcore Mining Company Limited is investing in the growth of girls' football across Busia, Uganda — supporting kit, training, transport and match-day logistics for young women's teams in the communities surrounding its licensed gold concession.
Sport is rarely just sport. For young women growing up in rural Uganda, a structured team environment is one of the most reliable ways to build confidence, leadership and the kind of visible role models that change what girls in the next year group believe is possible.
Burlcore's support is intentionally practical. It covers the things that quietly determine whether a team actually exists from one season to the next: kit, footwear, balls, basic medical supplies, safe transport to fixtures, and the operating costs of regular training. The intent is durability — squads that show up reliably, not a single photo opportunity.
The programme is coordinated with local leadership and delivered through Burlcore's on-site community affairs team. It sits alongside the company's broader work on health, water, education and youth opportunity in the district.
