Implementing modern mine safety standards at Burlcore.
Burlcore Mining Company Limited operates its Busia concession to documented, modern mine-safety standards - built around formal procedures, controlled heavy-equipment operation, and continuous on-site management oversight.
Safety at Burlcore is not treated as a bolt-on. It is designed into the operation from the day a worker is inducted, through daily shift briefings, PPE checks, and controlled access to active work areas.
Heavy equipment operation is governed by written procedures, competency verification, and exclusion zones enforced in the field. Only trained and authorised operators handle plant, and interactions between machines and people on foot are strictly managed.
The company's on-site leadership maintains a permanent presence, anchoring compliance with DGSM standards and Uganda's occupational health and safety framework. Incidents and near-misses are logged and reviewed as part of a rolling improvement cycle.
